A blonde walks into a bank in New York City
and asks for the loan officer.
귀티 나는 금발미녀가 뉴욕 중심가의 은행본점
영업소에 들어와 대출 담당자를 찾았다.
She says she’s going to Europe on business
for two weeks and needs to borrow $5,000.
여인은 갑자기 유럽으로 2주간 비지니스 여행을
갈 일이 생겨 5000불을 대출 받고자 하였다.
The bank officer says the bank will need
some kind of security for the loan, so
the blonde hands over the keys to a new
Rolls Royce. The car is parked on the
street in front of the bank;
대출 담당은 이에 담보가 필요하다 하였고
여인은 은행앞 길가에 주차되어 있는 최신형
’롤스 로이즈’ 새 차의 키를 건네주고
she has the title, and everything checks out.
The bank agrees to accept the car as collateral
for the loan.
차량등록증 등 제반 증빙서류를 제시하자
은행측은 그 차량을 답보물건으로 동의 하였다.
The bank’s president and its officers all enjoy
a good laugh at the blonde for using a $250,000
Rolls as collateral against a $5,000 loan.
은행장 이하 간부들은 이 소식을 전해 듣고서 5000불
대출에 25만불 짜리 차량을 담보 제공한 금발미녀의
행위에 조롱섞인 웃음으로 한때를 즐겼다.
An employee of the bank then drives the Rolls
into the bank’s underground garage and parks
it there.
은행 직원이 즉각 그 차량을 은행 지하 주차장에
조심스럽게 모셔다 주차 보관 하였다.
Two weeks later, the blonde returns and repays
the $5,000 and the interest, which comes to
$15.41.
2주후 예의 금발미녀가 나타나 원금 5,000불 상환
과 함께 그간의 경과 이자 $15.41을 지불 하자,
The loan officer says, "Miss, we are very happy
to have had your business, and this transaction
has worked out very nicely; but we are a little
puzzled.
담당 직원 왈 ; "아가씨, 이번 거래가 순조롭게
이루어져 매우 기쁩니다. 헌데 한가지 풀리지
않는 의문은..."
We checked you out and found that you are a
multimillionaire. What puzzles us is -
why would you bother to borrow $5,000?"
"알아 봤더니 당신은 백만장자 이던데
어쩐일로 5000불 짜리 대출 따위로
번거롭게 했는지 납득이 되질 않아서..."
The blond replies.....
그러자 금발이 대답컨데...
